Ward played against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday but has gone down with food poisoning which the club have blamed on some chicken that the players had on Friday lunch-time.
The former West Ham man is in no state to play tonight and Ben Turner who has recovered from the bug is expected to take his place in City's defence.
