Coventry City defender Elliott Ward has said that he is fighting for a regular first team place.

Ward played against Charlton Athletic on Monday admist a plethora of centre halves all competing for the two central defensive slots and told the CT's Andy Turner: "There is a lot of competition at centre back. James has come in and played a couple of games and done well but he has injuries. "Scott was out for a while so it was me and Ben and then Scotty, came back into the team and done well so it is tough."

Turner asked the former West Ham man if he felt part of Chris Coleman's long term plans and Ward replied: "I don't think I can answer that - that's down to the manager. But I haven't been out of the squad, I have been sub so that is a good sign.

"I have another year left on my contract and I will be back for pre-season and working hard and fighting for my place."
