Walking Footballers To Face Walsall On Saturday

Last updated : 17 August 2015 By CCFPA

If you are thinking of going to the Bescot stadium, Walsall on Saturday to see the Sky Blues take on the West Midlanders in what is sure to be a competitive League One clash there is another reason to go.

Sky Blues in the Community (SBiTC) is taking their veteran ‘Walking Footballers’ and Player Development teams to the stadium on the same day (Saturday 22nd August 2015) to take on players from Walsall FC Community Programme.

The game is being mounted in part to showcase the fast developing ‘Walking Football’ game which designed to provide gentle but competitive exercise for the over 50s and will take place before the main event when the League One teams clash! SBiTC, whose director is CCFPA member and former Sky Blue David Busst, has led the way in the Coventry area. Monday morning sessions at Bedworth Oval (the home of Bedworth FC) and Thursday morning sessions at St Finbarr’s Sports & Social Club in Coventry are on offer.

The initiative is supported by the Coventry City Former Players Association, the Coventry City Diamond Club and Covsupport News Service and several members of CCFPA including a number of our former player members put in an appearance fairly regularly.
