Wait Expected For Arena Name Announcement

Supporters have been told to be patient regarding the announcement of the Arena name. Arena Coventry CEO Paul Fletcher told the CET: "We are still in talks with a number of national and international companies, all of which have shown considerable interest in naming the new Arena.

"That is a very healthy situation and we are exploring a number of different avenues and certainly any deal or subsequent announcement is some time away.

"We have to ensure we reach an agreement which mirrors the standing and status of the Arena and reflects its importance as a major local, regional and national landmark.

"We will continue in our quest to achieve such an agreement and will, hopefully, make an announcement before the summer and well in time for opening in August."

Tescos, Ricoh and Powergen are just three names being banded about to replace Jaguar Cars who were forced to pull-out of the deal.

What if any benefits any company wanting the naming rights will have, could be nominal as Covsupport has been informed that many City supporters are happy just to call the ground - "The Arena" or the "Coventry Arena".
