Brian Borrows side got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City this morning.

On a sunny morning at the Alan Higgs Centre, The Sky Blues needed only six minutes to take the lead.

Reis Ashraf was first to react to a long through ball. He spotted the advancing Josh Herring and coolly chipped over the head of the Cardiff keeper and into the net from twenty yards.

In a very tight first half, both sides defended well with Dale Jones and Liam Robinson in fine form.

On the stroke of half-time,City keeper Cameron Belford, who again had played well, made a superb reaction save from a Kyle Bassett in-swinging corner and then be alert to deal with the resulting flag kick

Striker Reis Ashraf who has appeared for the reserves on a number of occasions this season, drew a fine save from Herring right at the start of the second half when he used his pace to beat the defence.

City started to lay siege on the Cardiff goal with a 50th minute scramble being cleared off the line by Lloyd Evans and Herring diving to his left to brilliantly push away an Ashraf close range shot two minutes later.

In the 61st minute,Brian Borrows side doubled their tally when Ashraf created space inside the penalty area and thumped a right footed shot low into the net.

The lively Matt West and David Burtoft backed up by the industrious Lee Hildreth kept the visiting defence under pressure as the Sky Blues cruised to a comfortable victory.
