Venus: If Players Sign We Will Be Better Equipped

Mark Venus has said that if Coventry City sign the players they are after then they will be better equipped than last season.

The Sky Blues started well but failed to pick up enough points in December, January and February and although they rallied late on, they had fallen out of the play-offs places.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Mark Venus said about the prospects for next season: “I feel warm about it, I have to say, but I know what football is like and that just round the corner is always a let down.

“No one knows how the season is going to transpire but if we can get the players we would like to get on board I would feel we’ll be better than last season –the squad will be better equipped and have more assets to them and we’ll have better options.

“We have to sign some players because of the limited numbers we have got

“It’s not like we are sat here with 15 and we need five. We need some loans and some signings, preferably signings.

“But we got a lot of value out of our loans last year for the actual amount of cash we spent on them, so they out-performed what we invested in them and we are probably going to go down that route again.

“I think we have to and we’d be foolish not to but I feel the squad that’s being talked about is a really nice, competitive, balanced and versatile group of players with, hopefully, the young, hungry and enthusiast players buys who want to rub them up and get in the team.

“We’re trying to create a competitive, healthy and united environment and hopefully that will come together as the summer progresses.”
