Van Aanholt Plays In Chelsea Euro Win

Former Coventry City loanee Patrick Van Aanholt played for Chelsea in their Champions League victory at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea beat MSK Zilna 2-1 with goals from former City youngster Danny Sturridge in the 51st minute and Malouda in the 86th minute to cancel out a 19th minute goal for Babatounde.

Another former City loanee Gary Madine scored for Carlisle United in a 1-1 League One draw against Rochdale. Lee Hughes got the winner for Notts County against Swindon Town and Clinton Morrison scored for Sheffield Wednesday in a 3-0 win over Walsall.

Michael McIndoe played for 65 minutes of MK Dons 4-1 defeat at Huddersfield Town. He was also cautioned in the game.

Shaun Jeffers (pictured below) played for thirty minutes of Cheltenham Town's 2-0 win at Macclesfield.



Robert Page came on for the last five minutes plus the four of stoppage time of leaders Chesterfield's shock 2-1 home defeat to Oxford United. The defeat means that Micky Adams Port Vale who won 5-0 at Stockport now top the League Two table.

Locally, Leamington beat Rugby Town 3-0 in the second round of the Red Insure Southern League Cup at the New Windmill. A crowd of 285 saw Corbett give the Brakes a 12th minute lead before Sheldon added two more in the 60th and 77th minutes.

Bedworth United's home game against Daventry Town was postponed.

Coventry Copsewood came from behind to beat Heather St John 3-1 at Allard Way in a Midland Combination Premier Division game. Waldum put the Leicestershire side ahead in the 20th minute but Carl Nolan's side levelled five minutes later through a Wimbush penalty. In the second half, PJ Gordon added a second for Copsewood in the 55th minute with Curtis Jackson hitting the third with fifteen minutes remaining.
