Port Vale have said that they want former Coventry City player and manager Micky Adams back as their manager.

Adams left The Potteries to manage Sheffield United but the Blades won only four of their twenty matches with him in charge and were relegated to League One.

Port Vale chairman Bill Bratt told The Sentinel: "We're looking for a manager, so if he applies for the job he certainly won't be turned away."

He added: "We would look at it seriously, but it would also depend on things like terms and conditions. Of course Micky may not want to come back to the Vale, or he may want to take a rest because he's had a traumatic time at Sheffield United.

"There's no big rush to appoint a new manager at the moment, but it's an interesting development because he's now on the market."

Other reports have Vale offering Adams a three year contract if he wants it.
