UEFA are to vote in April about a proposal to ensure that at least four home grown players are in a squad of 25 players.

This is to be introduced into the Champions League and UEFA Cup nbext season. Clubs will have to have six home grown players by 2007 and eight by 2008, four of which must have come through the club's Academy system.
If it was introduced today. City would be ok, as seven players have come through the Academy/reserve team set up and the likes of Richard Shaw,Andy Morrell,Stephen Hughes and Neil Wood are English.

Arsenal Chairman David Dein was less happy felling that it "restricts the free movement of players". He told Radio 5 Live "It's misguided and it will almost certainly now be challenged."
