Former Coventry City Chairman Mike McGinnity and John Clarke were in a restaurant, 500 metres away from where a bomb exploded in Palmanova, Majorca on Thursday.

The bomb killed two civil guards and was placed under a car in the resort popular with Brits.

Speaking to the CT, John Clarke, who was City Chairman for just over a day in the 1990's said: "We didn't actually hear the explosion but it was such a shock. In twenty five years of coming to Majorca, there has never been a bomb here. We all think it is safer than the UK.

"Half an hour later, there was another bomb and everyone heard it this time. The Civil Guards had found another one under a car and carried out a controlled explosion."
