Two Arrested After City V Port Vale Game

Two people were arrested for a couple of incidents after Coventry City's 1-0 win against Port Vale.

There had been banter between those in Block 3 and some of the Port Vale support which escalated to unacceptable levels after James Maddison's stunning goal with eleven minutes left.

This carried on after the match and a twenty one year old from Coventry and was arrested 'on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence with a 23-year-old man from Warwick arrested 'on suspicion of common assault.'

The West Midlands Police said in a statement to the Coventry Telegraph:  “The vast majority of people attending matches are there to enjoy the opportunity of supporting their team, but there are a few who choose to display their ‘support’ through anti-social or criminal activity.

“Football-related disorder and violence of this nature will not be tolerated and we work closely with security staff and club officials to identify and monitor ‘risk supporters’.

“Offenders are dealt with strongly and we will always push for Football Banning Orders against these people.”
