Coventry City loanee defender Ben Turner has said that the Sky Blues need to smarten up after the Sky Blues 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Ben Turner said: “We have got three games coming quickly after the Oldham match and we have to put Sunday to bed, keep it in our heads that we were the better side as we have in the four games I have been involved in.
"But at the same time we have to smarten up because if we want to be pushing towards automatic promotion that’s the task and you can’t do that unless you’re streetwise and smart.
"We need to nick these games 1-0 where teams sit in and make it horrible.
“It’s the same as Doncaster at home when we didn’t come under massive pressure with them getting in between our lines and we didn’t get a result.
"And it’s frustrating because the last three goals we have conceded have been of our own making and highly preventable.
"It’s not good play, more lapses in play from us and we have to cut that out to get a result.
“No-one likes conceding set-piece goals because you feel like you’ve given the opposition a free one.
“If everyone does their job and is organised the ball shouldn’t go in.
“We had one situation at the other end where the ball was over for us, we’ve had balls flash across the face of goal and no-one to get on the end of it so we have had good chances.
“We have to be positive because we seem to be coming off the pitch the better side in all the games we’re playing at the minute but we also have to cut out the sloppy mistakes and be more ruthless at both ends.
“We scored two goals against Doncaster but weren’t good enough in possession in our own half because we gave them two goals from losing possession.”
