Coventry City are fourth in the table after the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace. Bristol City remain top after a 1-1 draw with West Brom. Watford remain in second with Charlton moving into third thanks to a 2-0 win over Norwich who had former Sky Blue Dion Dublin sent off in the last minute.

Sheffield Wednesday are still bottom without a point after a 2-0 home defeat by Burnley. Other results saw wins for Plymouth,Scunthorpe and Hull with draws at Blackpool and Stoke.

In the League Cup, Leicester City went through in their second round tie at Nottingham Forest. The game which was replayed due to Clive Clarke suffering a heart attack at the half-time in the initial game started in bizarre circumstances with Leicester, who led 1-0 when the game was abandoned, allowing Forest keeper Paul Smith to walk the ball into the net. This had been agreed amongst the players and the game restarted technically being all square. Sheehan put Leicester ahead,Tyson equallsed but late goals from Stearman and Clemence saw the Foxes go through.

Locally, Nuneaton Borough drew 0-0 at Vauxhall Motors and Coventry Copsewood lost 3-2 at home to Castle Vale.
