Trust Issue Private Hire Vehicle Statement

The Sky Blue Trust is encouraging Coventry City supporters to form themselves into groups and travel to the new Arena by private hire minibuses or coaches.

This new transport initiative will be integrated into the existing Sky Blues Supporters Bus Scheme and could play an important role in the proposed Green Travel Plan. Arena Coventry Ltd – operators of the new Arena – will guarantee parking facilities for private hire vehicles at or near the ground providing that users of this method of transport become members of the existing scheme.

Lionel Bird, Arena Transport Director for the Trust, said: “ The purpose of the Green Travel Plan is to give supporters the best possible choice of convenient travel to the Arena in order to eliminate disruption for local residents. Around 25% of the Club’s fan base is located in towns like Warwick, Leamington, Kenilworth, Nuneaton, Bedworth and Rugby.

Supporters who live in these towns and in rural areas might find it easier to travel in privately hired vehicles and use the parking facilities provided for them. In fact, supporters living in Coventry itself who wish to use this type of transport will be positively encouraged and given full co-operation”
