Trust Issue Badge Statement

The Sky Blue Trust – along with Coventry supporters everywhere – are extremely disappointed that the Football Club has seen fit to change the Club badge. The City board should be under no illusion – this change is already being viewed as a PR blunder of monumental proportions.

The outrage expressed by many City fans over this decision could have serious repercussions upon the Club, none more so than when the time comes for fans to purchase next season’s team-shirt.

Other merchandise is also set to suffer from falling sales if the fans carry out their threat to boycott all items with the new badge on.

Our existing badge depicts the proud heritage of the people of Coventry. To do away with it completely could be construed as being disrespectful to our city, and that- clearly- is just not acceptable.

If the Club remains adamant that the new badge is here to stay, then we fear the worst from a financial point of view – a major loss of income could place even more strain on overstretched finances at the Club.

As such, the Trust now fully supports the Coventry Evening Telegraph’s campaign to completely scrap the new design.

The Club MUST now reconsider their intentions. The full weight of the fans opinions against the new badge just cannot be ignored.
