Speaking to the CET, Gary McSheffrey,Andy Morrell and Michael Doyle have given their views on Peter Reid's decision to step down.

Gary McSheffrey said: "I am certainly shocked and I just hope the club can get someone in now to bring some stability and to look forward to the long term future. "I am 22 and Adrian Heath will be my sixth manager here, and I think four or five of those have been in the last two seasons. We can't go down the quick-fix route again because we will never move forward. "The decision on a new manager needs to be well thought out by the chairman and the board to make sure they get the right man. "Personally I am disappointed to see Peter Reid go because I have enjoyed a good run under him."

Andy Morrell admitted: "I am a bit shocked but what I feel now is that we need someone to come in and do the job on a long term basis. "It is no good getting someone in for six months because you can see at other clubs that it is the ones with managers who are given time to stick at the job who turn things round. "I don't know if we let the manager down but we certainly haven't been performing in the way we should be."

Michael Doyle said: "I have only been here two years and Inchy will be my fifth manager on Saturday which just about says it all. "Whoever comes in now has got to be a manager who knows exactly what he is getting himself into in terms of the finances available. "The fact that we had 20,000 fans at the home games over Christmas shows there is great potential at the club but we need to get the right man for the job now. "I am gutted to see Peter Reid go. I have played nearly every game under him. "I have not always seen eye to eye with him, although not in a bad way, and I honestly feel that maybe the players have got to take responsibility and feel that we have let him down. "He was really good to the players but maybe he has been too easy on us."
