Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni told the Irish Times that Coventry City's Keiren Westwood has his full confidence.

Trapattoni's first choice goal Keeper Shay Given dislocated his shoulder playing for Manchester City at Arsenal last Saturday and may need surgery to repair the damage.

Given will definitely miss the two friendly internationals scheduled for next month against Paraguay and Algeria . Westwood will be the natural choice to take his place and has been given a place in the Republic's training squad.

Trapattoni told The Irish Times, "I have confidence with Westwood. We follow him every Saturday and Sunday and watch him closely in training. He is not the biggest but he has a good personality."
