Town Pick-Up Gets Supporter Backing

Following the damage to cars owned by City supporters who travelled on the official coaches to Bristol City last Saturday, Covsupport, Twist N Shout Fanzine and The Sky Blue Trust have again renewed calls for coaches to pick up in town.

Arena Coventry Limited whose directors include Civic Chiefs Stella Manzie and John McGuigan as well as CCFC Director Sir Derek Higgs have stated that if supporters were allowed to park in Car Park A at the ground, they would be charged or the club would have to pay for an area in Car Park C to be supervised.

Coaches run by the Trust to pre-season friendlies have proved that the Sports Centre in Fairfax Street is a viable proposition for a pick up point as Coventry City centre has the safest car parks in the City plus a number of taxi ranks and a bus station to which most buses in Coventry go to or nearby.

Sky Blue Trust Press Officer Natalie Cox said: "The location of the Ricoh Arena can often make it difficult for supporters to catch the coach due to the cost of buses, taxi's etc adding to the cost of the coach ticket. It is a difficult place to get a taxi or bus from after an away game.

"Having a central located pick up and drop off point would make it easier, safer and cheaper for fans to follow and support the team around the country."
