Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has that any players coming back over-weight when the players return to pre-season training on Sunday July 1st will not be tolerated.

“I’ve told them that if anyone comes back out of shape they’ll be fined the most anyone can ever be fined because I will not have anyone coming back in the way certain players did last year,” said Thorn to the CT's Andy Turner. .

“I won’t even entertain them. “They’ve all been fitness tested and have all got individual programmes which they have got to stick to. I have been really strong on their weight and stats and they’ll have to stick to the regime we’ve given them.

“We did all the tests on weight, body fat and stuff last week and everyone had an individual programme like they do at the big clubs, so everything is being done properly.

“They will have a couple of weeks without doing anything – complete rest – and then they’ll build into it gradually.

"They’ll have runs to do twice a week and then three times a week and it builds up so that when they come back on July 1 they’ll be right at it.

“We’ve told them what they can and can’t eat so there are no excuses. Everything is in black and white."

The same also goes for the City Academy players who are being told today their programmes for the close season.
