Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said that defender Richard Wood is hoping to be fit for the pre-season.

Wood has been out with a knee injury but has been at Ryton working to get himself fit to play a part in City's League One campaign.

Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, Andy Thorn said: “Woody is still trying to get fit and hoping to be ready to start the pre-season, the same as Nathan Cameron.

"I'm sure he will be disappointed with last season.

“At the start I don’t know whether he thought he wasn’t first choice or not but he played at Bury in the second game and got injured, missing almost two months. He came back and played four games and was out again, so he had one of those unfortunate seasons that was full of injuries.

“I expect him to play a lot more games and be available a lot more than he has been because he’s missed a hell of a lot of games.

“But I’d love him to be fit and available because we need him as a club to play more than he has, and it’s important we have the likes of Woody fit and available and not sat in the treatment room.

“He’s a senior member of the squad and when he plays he does a really good job, but unfortunately he was constantly battling against injury last season.”
