Andy Thorn has thanked the Coventry City’s fans for their continuing support during the lean times and poor start to the season and has promised them their faith will soon be rewarded.

Coventry City have endured their worst start to the season since the 1960's with three game without a point and even losing in the first round of the Carling Cup.

Coventry scored their first goal of the season when Lukas Jutkiewicz put the Sky Blues ahead early in the second half at Selhurst Park on Tuesday, only to lose the game 2-1 to two very late goals, but despite the heartbreaking manner of the loss, the 500 or so travelling City fans gave their side an ovation as they left the field dejected.

The warm reception given to his players genuinely affected Thorn, but he remained in the dressing room to console his young side and sent head coach Steve Harrison to do the post match media interviews.

But Thorn was genuinely touched at Selhurst Park on Tuesday when the 500 travelling fans choked back their disappointment at Crystal Palace’s injury-time smash-and-grab to give their team a warm ovation.

At his weekly pre weekend press conference, Thorn thanked the fans for their support, especially during these trying times and promised them their patience would soon be rewarded.

He said to the CT: “The fans have been amazing in our first three games. We appreciate everything they are giving us and long may that continue."

“They all want the best for the football club and I think they know that we are trying as hard as we can to make that happen. We are trying to give them something back and we are all pulling in the same direction.”
