Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said that he is looking forward to City's League Cup tie at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner about the game which is likely to be at Victoria Road on Tuesday August 14th subject to television and other demands, Thorn said: “Daggers away, I’m really looking forward to it.

"It will be good to kick the season off and hopefully we can start with a win which will set us up nicely for our first league game.

“I’m more South London in terms of where I was brought up but it will be nice to go back down there.

It’s a good draw for us and with the fixtures coming out next week I can’t wait to get back in to Ryton with the lads and start our pre-season.

“As I said last year, you want to go as far as you can in every competition and the more games you play the more successful you are in them.

“I’ve played at Victoria Road before for Wimbledon reserves and it’s a tough place to go. It was a tight old ground, although it has probably changed since then.

“John Still is the manager and he’s been in the game for years and I’ll look forward to seeing him.

“These are good games and it’s a great chance to progress and it will be great to give our fans something to cheer about.”
