Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has run into problems trying to strengthen his attacking line up and has been forced to look elsewhere.

Two of his targeted strikers have been promoted to their first team squads ans are therefore not available for loaning out to other clubs and a third player rejected the proposed move.

Thorn has not given up and is still working hard to bring in another Premier League striker to add some bite to the attack. He is hoping to be able to complete a deal sooner rather than later.

The addition of striker Alex Nimely and midfielder Oliver Norwood have improved the squad dramatically and with this in mind, Thorn hopes that a third loan player will be enough to ensure Championship survival.

Thorn told the CT, “It shows what you can do when you add a bit of quality and they are good lads as well. Both Alex and Olly have fitted straight in to the group really well and I have been really pleased with them.

“We got right amongst Leeds the other night and Norwood and Gary Deegan worked really well together. They tackled and worked hard and Fabian Delph couldn’t get in the game.

“We changed a lot of things the other night because we had a lot of boys missing. We have been working on a few things and I think we got it right. The players were right up for it.

Gary McSheffrey looks a different person. I had spoken to him about the pens and he wanted them and he showed real balls to take them and put them away. So to get where we are now shows a lot of character and let’s be fair, we barely had a team the other night.

"When you look at the kids we had on the bench and it will be the same group at Forest, but if they show the same effort and commitment again then there’s no reason why we can’t go there and get a result.

“The fans were superb the other night; so good, but the support we are getting, both home and away, has been terrific and we are all in this together and we’re determined to get out of it together as well.”
