George Thomas has said that he was happy with his goal in Coventry City's 2-1 defeat to Portsmouth at Havant & Waterlooville on Tuesday night.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, the Wales U19 international who has come through City's Academy and already shown that he has goals like the one against Portsmouth in his locker, said: : “I am really happy with it. It’s only pre-season but you dream of scoring your first goal for Coventry and it’s a massive achievement for me and my family – a really proud moment. It’s just a shame about the result.

“My first touch is normally quite good and as soon as it came down I knew it was going in. It was a great ball over the top from Reda. It’s my game to try to stretch teams and make those runs in behind. He picked me out perfectly, dropping in over the centre-halves’ head and I didn’t have to think about it; it just happens. I just brought it down and saw the keeper off his line and it was simple from there.”
