Coventry City ended their home League One games with a win over Walsall.

The final home game of the season and the Ricoh Arena was pretty empty on a sunny afternoon for a game which was simply one of fulfilling the fixture.

After boring the City support at Rochdale, Mark Robins, brought in Vladimir Ghadzev and Reice Charles-Cook and no loan players for a game against Walsall.

With two bids for the Sky Blues being rejected, the Sisu Out chants were out early in a match which saw Kevin Foley have the first shot in the 11th minute.

Walsall had one  shot and then City had two corners in a half which had Gael Bigirimana and Ruben Lameiras doing plenty of running.

The passing from City was good but it lacked quality in the final third

Ghadzev, one the many out of contract gave away a free kick on the half hour mark. The ball came in and Matt Preston rose at the far post to head just wide.

A 35th minute corner for City was cleared in a game not watched by Tim Fisher, who, if rumours, were right, had been advised to stay away for safety reasons.

In the 38th minute, the game broke into life, when George Thomas won a corner and then met the flag kick which a shot which flew into the net and taking City off the bottom of the league and making him top scorer.

Thomas fired wide two minutes later as "Sky Blue Army" chants went round the ground.

The second half started with Walsall making two changes and Lameiras firing at MacGillivray.

As one from the corner next to the scoreboard was ejected by the police, Walsall had a 54th minute free kick which the referee made them take again.

As hedid with a corner which result from the free kick and then headed off the line.

Charles-Cook caught a 58th minute over head kick but the mood amongst the City support was turning.

Banners were erected amid calls for Sisu to go and Gary Hoffman and his consortium's bid to be accepted.

City huffed and puffed but MacGillivray' goal at the North Stand was not threatened.

One in the Walsall end was ejected before Thomas fired over.

With twenty minutes left, Walsall were down to ten men when Eoighan O'Connoll was sent off for a bad foul on George Thomas after already having been booked.

Three minutes later and Chris Stokes clattered in to an advertising hoarding. Stokes got to his feet but was taking no further part in the game and Farrend Rawson came on in his place.

More poor officiating continued to infuriate the City support who then laughed when Mr Drysdale refused to give Walsall a blatant penalty.

Thomas fired over and then Ghadzev got through but could only trickle a harmless shot wide.

Thankfully that was the last of Ghadzev who made way for Jordan Shipley to make his debut and for Dion Kelly-Evans to come on for Foley.

Jodi Jones continued to make runs whilst Bigirimana and Turnbull worked hard.

Out came the police to try and prevent a pitch invasion and Sisu Out Chants mixed with the Sky Blue Song.

Five minutes were added. Shipley fired wide as City took a win.
