Micky Adams is believed to be on the verge of making a big signing to boost a City team currently in it's worst pre-season form since 1987. The whole thing is very hush hush at the moment, but the player in question is believed to be Sheffield United's Paul Thirlwell. with the deal completed tomorrow morning. Born in 1979, the midfielder has played for Sheffield United ,Sunderland and Swindon over the years.

Adams hunt for a goalkeeper continues. The City boss admitted that it was not an easy search but told supporters, he was giving it his best shot.  City fielded Academy skipper Jonny Tuffey in goal last night and the 18 year old Northern Irishman put in a good performance and looks likely to keep his place for the final pre-season game at Port Vale on Friday night, if Clayton Ince has not fully recovered from the bruised ribs sustained in the 201 defeat at Rushden on Sunday.
