There Can Be A Solution Which Does Not Involve Us Owning The Stadium - Anderson

From Tim Fisher's the only way forward is our own ground, things have moved on and Coventry City MD Chris Anderson has said that the Sky Blues do not necessarily have to own their own ground.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Simon Gilbert, Mr Anderson said:  “Manchester City don’t own their own stadium, Swansea City share with a rugby club. Every situation is idiosyncratic.

“We need a relationship where we share certain things - the Compass deal around food and drink revenue, advertising, naming rights, car parking, a club shop.

"There are about 17 separate categories where we would have to work out an agreement or partnership.

“But it’s not something that can happen overnight, these things take time.

“We think there’s a lot of goodwill in town generally - from the people who own the stadium and need to make it a success, there’s a lot of supporters of the football club on the city council.

“I think there can be a solution that doesn’t involve us owning the stadium.

“It’s in nobody’s interest to let the football club go under, kick them out of Coventry or make it difficult for us to operate.

“The only way we will get to the Premier League will be to have a stadium agreement that allows us to invest in the team.

“I’d like to see some clarity with that. I know a lot of people are working hard to provide some clarity on that.

“If you add a reasonable stadium solution to what we have at the moment, that’s a really health situation.”
