The Using Of City Supporters Clubs is Wrong

The latest attempt by Coventry City CEO David Boddy and now City Chairman Tim Fisher to use Coventry City supporters clubs and individuals to back their case for the club to remain at the Ricoh Arena, is very wrong.

Those running the club never listened to supporters when they sold the club's 50% share in ACL to the Higgs Charity, never listened when the decision was made to move the club to Northampton, something the club has never fully recovered from and always done their own thing in running the club or taking legal action, so why should the views of supporters in an open letter make one bit of difference to an issue that is not of the supporters making?

The Coventry City supporters clubs are in their nature, not political and their raison d'être is to serve the match going needs of their members, helping them to get to games, pre-game meets, getting to know the likes of manager Mark Robins and his players via socials, have lunches with former players and personalities etc and generally encourage support for the teams playing under the Coventry City banner, not for being used to promote views on off the field matters as there are other groups such as the Sky Blue Trust and campaign group The Jimmy Hill Way etc who deal with off the field matters concerning CCFC.

Of course, after what appear blatant lies of a new stadium, everyone wishes to see Coventry City playing at the Ricoh Arena for many years to come but using supporters to try and show support for keeping the Sky Blues in existence by trying to gloss over the legal action brought by two companies of which Mr Fisher is a director of, is not acceptable, although probably the desperate actions we should expect from people that Coventry City and football would be better without.
