The Sky Blue Boost To Blackpool's Economy

The town of Blackpool received an economic boost over the weekend.

The visit of Coventry City prompted a turn out of over 3,000 who went to see the Sky Blues 1-0 win as well as a large number of others who opted to go drinking instead.

There are estimates of around 2,000 staying one, two or three nights, which certainly boosted those involved in the accommdation business.

Pubs certainly did well with one pub - The Castle, making £9,000 in the lunch-time before the game as City supporters took over pubs in Blackpool's town centre and around the ground with many refusing to drink or eat in the ground in support of Blackpool supporters and the campaign against the family that owns their club,  and then had a number of nights out which all brought money into the town that they would not have had from the visits of other League One teams and at a time when the holiday season has yet to properly start.
