The former Coventry City defender, who was a fans favourite during his time at Highfield Road and sold way too cheaply to Nottingham Forest, told the club website: "It is a fantastic stadium and it has the infrastructure around it.
"When we drove in this morning the car-parks were full up because of the events that are going on in and around the stadium.
"So it isn't just being used as a football venue, is it being used as a business venue and all that makes common business sense.
"This ground for the Championship is unbelievable - it would grace the Premiership more than comfortably.
"When we are looking where to play England Under-21 games, we look at the facilities and we look at the pitch and we also see where we have been well supported in the past.
"One of the reasons we brought the game back here is because of the Germany game a couple of years ago. It was before my time but the stadium was sold out and I am sure it will be fantastic again tomorrow night."
