Coventry City manager Andy Thorn felt his player were resolute during thier 1-0 League Cup victory at Dagenham & Redbridge.

City, who had their supporters cheering their one shot on target in the second half, scraped through with a soft penalty for a shirt pull on Richard Wood awarded in the 88th minute and dispatched by Kevin Kilbane.

Speaking to Sky Blue Player's Nick Connoll, Andy Thorn said: "First half I thought we got it down well and played but they pressed us second half and it was difficult but we're going to get that this season and I thought the lads were really resolute.

"We've done alot of defending and shape work over the past few days and I think you saw that tonight. The set piece that won us the penalty is something we worked on in training, we didn't really flow going forward but we stuck in there.

"I thought the back four were really good for us tonight. They were solid and sure and with Billy Daniels infront of them and Murphy behind I thought it gave us the foundation for the victory."
