Coventry City supporters have been thanking PC Dave Mapp of the West Midlands Police for his services .
Dave, has been the Sky Blues Football Liaison Officer since taking over from Paul Cudworth and has got to know many City supporters during his time.
However, that time has come to an end and Northamptonshire police, in a decision, which has not gone down well, are taking over from West Midlands Police in the policing of City supporters both home and away
Covsupport News Service are amongst those who have personally thanked Dave for all his help and support over the last few years whilst the Sky Blue Trust said in a statement: “The Trust would like to put on record our thanks to PC Dave Mapp for all his hard work, understanding and tolerance - it has been a pleasure to work with you and you truly are a credit to your uniform. “
Away Days veteran Paul McKay said: "As Coppers go PC Mapp or Mappy as he's known ain't a bad bloke. "When he first took over he was a bit stiff and looked a bit concerned when I told him "We're going to run you ragged!". Not that he would catch us!
"After a few games he turned out to be a decent chap. It's not many blokes that will give you a wave when a stand full of fans are chanting that "you are a wa**er". He took it in the humour it was meant.
"The decision to replace him with the Northampton force leaves a lot to be desired. They have a hard act to follow.
"In many respects he's "old school", a copper who takes time to speak to fans and is approachable. He's also always willing to help fans out and have a good larf."
