According to the CET, Micky Gynn has been awarded a testimonial. The popular midfielder who is still employed by the club as a programme contributor, hopes to stage a rematch of the 1987 final on May 30 or in the first week of June.

All but four of the Sky Blues squad from 1987 have committed themselves signed up for the match, whilst Glenn Hoddle and current Spurs reserve team boss Clive Allen have agreed to play for the match that City supporters have been pushing for, over a number of seasons.

Testimonial Spokesman Dave Harrington said “We are delighted that Micky has been granted his testimonial which he very much deserves after ten years of loyal service to the club. “We are trying to replay the 87 Cup Final and it should be a great occasion.”

Graham Hover told the club website: "We promised Michael a testimonial in 1997 but as is so often the case, finding the opposition can be quite difficult.
"But we are glad that something has been arranged and we can confirm that Michael will get his testimonial before Highfield Road closes its doors but it will not be the last game here."
