Former Coventry City Striker Roy O'Donovan has received a ten game ban.
O'Donovan who plays for Australian side Newcastle Jets, was given a ten game ban for a karate-like kick on Melbourne Victory keeper Lawrence Thomas during the A-League Grand Final.
The Australian FA took three days to decide on the punishment which Newcastle are appealing.
They said in a statement: “The Newcastle Jets are extremely disappointed with the outcome of this hearing and will immediately lodge an appeal on O’Donovan’s behalf."
