Two players targeted by Micky Adams have gone elsewhere. Alan Stubbs has joined Sunderland whilst keeper Chris Day trialed with City during the Ibiza tour has signed for Oldham Athletic.

Meanwhile Steve Staunton has signed for Walsall as a player. The Irishman who turned down another year at Coventry by not turning up for the first day of training had been hoping for a player/coach role. After finding himself without a club, the former Dundalk and Liverpool defender took "a mutually beneficial deal" offered by Paul Merson and will make his debut in a friendly against former club Aston Villa.
