Jay Tabb has been called into Steve Staunton's Republic Of Ireland squad for the games against Cyrpus and the Czech Republic.

Tabb told the club website: "It's great news for me. Obviously I knew I was on the standby list, but you don't actually think that you will end up being called-up. "I know that a couple of players have unfortunately had to drop out of the squad and it will be great to be training alongside the lads again after I was involved at the end of last season.

"The two games are important for us and we will be looking to get some points on the board. The lads were unlucky to lose to Germany in the first game so it would be great to get going. "It will be another chance for me to try and impress the manager and if I could get a taste of the action then that would be great but I'm not taking anything for granted."

Meanwhile,Craig Bellamy has been named as the Wales captain for their new two internationals.
