Saturday 19th March – PNE “A” vs CCSFC – IFA League fixture.

Coventry City Supporters FC travel to Preston North End this weekend to take on their supporters team. We make history I’m told being the first ever Coventry side to travel to Preston to play in a supporters game, after numerous occasions of them travelling down to play different Coventry teams – we will be taking a squad of 14/15 to play them in the morning, departing from the Ricoh at 7AM to embark on a 12 hour day.

Supporters team will kick off at 1030AM at Preston Sports Arena, on the outskirts of Preston. All players playing will travel up in a minibus provided kindly by Massey Ferguson.

This is a call out to any City supporters who are going to the game – if you are around about Preston at 1030am, come to the Preston Sports Arena and show some support to the Coventry Supporters Team.

Preston have kindly supplied us with a crate of water for our game, aswell as putting us a spread of food on after the game. These are both kind gestures from Steve and his boys – which will be returned on the return trip at some point.

Penny has at least 8 debutants in his squad, with most notable of such being goalkeeper Ashley Forsyth. Pennys fast approaching 150 players to have played for CCSFC.

The teams chances are good at the moment, although with Preston being a strong side, Penny has a strong side available to him for this fixture. Participants of previous games return in the form of Daniel McDermott, Tom Williams, James Jones, Connoll Farrell . Most notable returns is of the strike force, Jonny Green and Ryan Harkin Re-united for the first time since The Stanley Heames Cup last September.

“I believe this squad I have available to me at the moment will be good enough to beat Preston if we play as a unit and gel in time. Last time out against West Brom we lacked up front with a bit of pace, also with the midfield going AWOL for the majority of the game, I’m hoping for this one we can hold a stronger midfield to try and dominate the game and take control. May I add a big thanks to Steve from Preston for getting this one on, can already feel the hospitality will be second-to-none.”

Kick off 1030am at Preston Sports Arena.
