The Guardian is reporting that Sunderland are still highly interested in Coventry City's Irish international goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and that Steve Bruce will approach the Sky Blues with an offer later in the summer.

Sunderland have consistently been linked with Westwood, but interest from other Premiership clubs, Everton, Birmingham City and Tottenham Hotspur has dropped off as all three club have recently signed new goal keepers.

Westwood receives the Coventry City South Wales Supporters Club Player Of The Year award.

Westwood has continually stressed he is very happy at Coventry and that he wants to stay. City chairman Ray Ranson and manager Aidy Boothroyd also want the talented shot stopper to stay and have started negotiations with the 'keeper and his agent with the aim of extending his contract, which has another year to run.
