Summer Training Camp For Conor Thomas

Coventry City midfielder Conor Thomas has said that he is looking to go on a summer training camp to ensure that his fitness levels are good when the players return to pre-season training at the end of June.

Thomas did well last pre-season, captaining the City side during their three game tour of Northern Scotland but was hit by a parting gift from Gary Deegan which saw him out until January.

The Coventry born midfielder was back in the starting eleven for the defeat at Crawley Town on Saturday and he told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “I work hard in every pre-season but this summer I am going to have a little break and then get myself on a training camp and hopefully come back fresh and hit the ground running,” he said. “I am going to speak to Lee Carsley and see if he can arrange something and hopefully I’ll go away a couple of weeks before we’re due back and get my fitness going.

“I haven’t played a lot this season so it’s not like I need two months on a beach now. But obviously I have got to balance what I do and come back fitter and stronger.

“But the lack of pitch time has made me even more determined. You can’t sulk about it; it’s just the way it is. There are just two games left to go now so I will sort myself out and be fresh and ready to go for pre-season.”
