Strachan's Scotland Miss Out

The Scotland national team will not be going to the World Cup in Russia next year.

Scotland, managed by former City player and manager Gordon Strachan needed to win in Slovenia and hope that Malta, got a result away to Slovakia.

Slovakia won 3-0 and Scotland, backed by 2,500 fans, could only draw 2-2 which means they miss out on a place in the World Cup Finals with England, who won 1-0 in Lithuania in a game attended by a number of City supporters, on goal difference.

Whether Strachan will keep his job is open to debate but former City midfielder Don Hutchinson is backing Strachan and tweeted: "I really hope Gordon Strachan stays on as Scotland boss.

"Even though, it was disappointing tonight, He has my 100% backing to take us forward."

Former City midfielder Michael O'Neill has guided his time to the World Cup Play-Offs. Former City loanee Oliver Norwood made his 50th appearance for Northern Ireland, playing the first half of a 1-0 defeat to Norway.
