Stern And Birch In Mass Retirement

Stern John and Chris Birchall have supported a plan of mass retirement from playing international football for Trinidad & Tobago after the friendlies last night and versus Panama on Wednesday.

The Trinidad players broke the news before the rearranged friendly with St Vincent and The Grenadines and issued a statement accusing the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation of reneging on the contractual obligation they made during the 2006 World Cup build-up. Thirteen members of the 2006 World Cup squad supported the decision.

In the friendly against St Vincent,Stern John scored twice on his 99th appearance for T&T with Chris Birchall also on the scoresheet in a 5-0 win in front of a crowd of 4,116.

Birchall netted in the 13th minute whilst John scored in the 24th and 48th minute.
