The proposed move from Ipswich Town to Coventry City of striker Jon Stead is being held up because Stead's wife is due to give birth in three weeks time.

It had been hoped that Stead's move to The Ricoh would have been completed  in time for last Saturday's game against QPR, but the striker asked for time to consider the move, but it has now emerged that the main reason was because of concerns for his wife's well being.

It is understood that 26 year old Stead is keen on making the move to Coventry after falling down the pecking order at Portman Road, but Stead's wife wants to stay in Suffolk where she is settled and comfortable, until after the birth of their child.

City manager, Chris Coleman is eager to boost his strike force after the departure of Leon Best to Newcastle and because current Coventry City Striker Clinton Morrison is out of contract in the summer and it it not certain whether he will sign a new contract if offered one.
