Former Coventry City loanee Jon Stead has revealed exactly why he turned down a loan move to the Sky Blues.

Stead, who played for City in 2010 on loan, was offered the chance of coming back to City for a second time by Stephen Pressley but turned down the offer and went on loan from his home town club Huddersfield Town to first Oldham Athletic and then Bradford City.

Speaking about why he turned down the loan to the Bradford Argos, Stead said  “They were trying to take me on loan and it would have appealed to me.

“But I’ve got a new baby and my second coming in three or four weeks so it wasn’t a time for me to be spending most of the week away from home. That was the only reason I didn’t take it.

“But coming to Bradford ticks all the boxes at this stage of my career. It's somewhere I feel I can flourish.”
