Staying Up - Least City Were Capable Of, Was Top Ten

Sorry, I cannot go along with this mutual back slapping from the Coventry City manager and players that not being relegated is some cause for celebration.

The ‘Northampton’ argument mentioned by Steven Pressley and others does not carry much weight for me, especially when you take into account that City have won more matches at Sixfields than they did last season at a Ricoh Arena where League One teams were coming and raising their game, spurred on by playing in a magnificent stadium that was way better than anything else, most of these sides were used to.

Ok, the minus ten points did not help matters at the start of the season but when the points were taken off, there was still another 128 to play for.

On paper, the squad Steven Pressley had this season, was more than capable of a top ten finish and apart from Tranmere and Brentford, no other team has really had the better of City all season.

So to only confirm safety on the penultimate Saturday of the season after a month of no wins in six games is disappointing and no cause for any celebration.
