Former Coventry City striker Leon McKenzie was beaten tonight on a split decision.
McKenzie took on Leicester's Jahmaine Smyle at York Hall in London in a English Championship fight which went the distance after McKenzie was put down in the second round.
However, the judges scored the contest 95-94, 94-96, 97-92 to give Smyle the title.
McKenzie tweeted: "Well done to @SMASHER_Smyle good fight and I wish you all the best for the future.
"I gave my all and unfortunately I fell short. Will have a bit of time off and see what's next for me. One love. X"
On the football pitch, former City short term player Mark Marshall scored for Bradford City in the 63rd minute of a 4-0 win over Rochdale.
Former City captain Carl Baker scored twice as Portsmouth beat Mansfield 1-0.
