Sphinx Win Last Highfield Road Telegraph Cup Final

Covsupport sponsored Danny McSheffrey skippered his Coventry Sphinx side to a 5-0 victory in the Coventry Evening Telegraph Cup Final.

Watched by a gate of around 2000 for the last ever CET Final at Highfield Road, Sphinx took the game to Brooklands Jaguar with three goals in the first half.

Paul Woods put the Siddeley Avenue side ahead in the tenth minute with Robbie Stephenson finding the net with a curling free kick six minutes later.

Jamie Towers added a third before the break and a fourth with ten minutes to go. In the final minute,substitute Wayne Pulford saw Sphinx go nap and win their first Telegraph Cup Final since 1966.

Covsupport sponsored Craig Reid presented the trophies to Cardinal Newman who won the Schools U16 Cup Final beating Kenilworth School 2-0.
