A late goal from Ricky Fletcher saw Coventry Sphinx progress to the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Lye Town.

The West Midlands League side were awarded an early penalty at Sphinx Drive in front of a gate of 131 but Carl O'Neill brilliantly saved.

However, in the 45th minute, Lye did take the lead when Steve Weaver netted.

A second goal for the visitors never came and in the 81st minute, Sphinx levelled through Ashley Jackson.

The goal lifted Sphinx and just before the end, Ricky Fletcher found the net to delight the Sphinx support.

Unfortunately, the end of the game was marred by some unsporting behaviour from the visitors but Sphinx were through.
