Sphinx Lose To Southam

COVENTRY SPHINX 1-2 SOUTHAM UNITED

Coventry Sphinx were beaten 2-1 by Southam United in a pre-season friendly tonight.

Luke Hopkins fielded a strong side but they fell behind in the 14th minute when Casey Caggini fired in a 25 yard screamer into the top corner of the net.

Sphinx, immediately responded drawing a great save from the visiting keeper before Webb toe poked over.

Southam had a goal ruled out and in the 70th minute of a game played in a decent spirit between two sides looking to play good football, Sphinx had a goal ruled out for offside.

Sphinx started to create chances again and in the 86tth minute, they were level when Courtney Richards levelled from close. However, straIght from the restart, Ben Tennant went up the other end and stroked the ball home to give the Midland Combination Premier Division side the win.

Coventry Copsewood were beaten 3-0 by Coleshill Town and Atherstone Town lost to Tamworth.
