Sphinx Hope For Second Time lucky

Midland Combination Premier Division table toppers Coventry Sphinx go to Alvechurch tomorrow hoping to pull off a Cup double.

Last night's Sphinx's youth team won 4-1 at Alvechurch in a rearranged FA Youth Cup 1st Rd Qualifying tie thanks to a brace from Calum Woodward and goals from Richard Elliott and Luke Elvridge.

They now travel to Belper for the next round and could possibly face the Sky Blues in the 3rd Round proper should John Woodward's side continue to progress.

Tomorrow, Sphinx face a difficult FA Vase tie at the Pack Meadow,home of the Midland Alliance side. Sphinx boss Paul Charnley is expected to be able to select from a full squad for the game.

Other local sides in FA Vase action tomorrow are Atherstone Town at home to Norton United, Coventry Copsewood at home to Shawbury United,  Nuneaton Griff at home to Tividale whilst Stratford Town travel to Leicester based St Andrews.
