Sphinx End With A Draw

Coventry Sphinx were denied a win by a late goal at Westfields.

Sphinx travelled to Hereford for their final Midland Alliance game of the season and were ahead after twelve minutes through Luke Downes.

Phil Glover levelled twelve minutes later with a close range header at the far post and two minutes into the second half, Westfields took the lead through Saul Halpin.

However, after their mauling by Coleshill on Easter Monday, Sphinx, today were determined and displaying the same sort of performance that had seen them win at Alvechurch a week ago, they started to control the game.

In the 58th minute, Rickie Cutting drew Sphinx level and in the 82nd minute, the travelling Sphinx support were going mad when Ashley Cain put Sphinx in front.

However, in the 89th minute, Dan Polan equalised for a 3-3 draw which sees Coventry Sphinx finish in a respectable seventh place in the table.
